Time Keeping & Gamesheet Info (North Middlesex & District Minor Hockey Association)

PrintTime Keeping & Gamesheet Info
As discussed at our 24/25 AGM, this year it will be each team’s responsibility to run the time clock and the GameSheet for their home games. It is up to each bench staff to decide how or who will handle these tasks. Some teams may choose to rotate, while others may assign a few dedicated people.
We recommend having two people per game (no more)—one to manage the time clock and one to manage the GameSheet.

We know this is a change, and to make the transition easier, we’ve put together some helpful resources:
  • A laminated reference sheet will be available in the timekeepers’ booth.
  • Helpful information is listed below.
  • Links to Zoom meetings to learn about GameSheet.
  • Coaches will also have information to help answer questions.
Please review everything carefully.

Instructions for Each Game

Before the Game
  1. The home team’s head coach is responsible for getting the iPad from the locked equipment room and ensuring the correct game is loaded.
  2. The home team’s head coach must confirm that all bench staff have signed and that all players are properly rostered in GameSheet.
  3. Once completed, the coach hands the iPad (with the game sheet filled out) to the referees on the ice. The referees will check the sheet, sign it, and then pass the iPad to the timekeepers.
During the Game
  1. Operate the clock – Run the game clock and scoreboard according to league rules.
  2. Record events – Accurately record all goals, assists, and penalties as they occur, using the correct abbreviations and player numbers.
  3. Work with officials – Confirm calls with referees as needed to maintain accuracy of the game sheet.
  4. Let players in the penalty box know when they are able to leave the box if needed, and close the door behind them.
  5. Teams can play music at whistles by connecting a phone to the cords in the timekeeper booth. No explicit music, including songs with profanity, sexual content, or offensive language, or hate speech, is allowed to be played. Any team found playing inappropriate words and/or sounds may result in disciplinary action from the league.
After the Game
  1. Finalize the game sheet – Ensure the final score, penalty minutes, and game completion time are entered correctly.
  2. Do not close out of the app – Return the iPad to the head coach, who will submit the GameSheet.
  3. The head coach must then return the iPad to the locked equipment room and plug it in so it is ready for the next team.
  4. If any issues arise, report them to the referee or the coach.

We appreciate everyone’s commitment to learning these roles so our Jr. Stars can enjoy a smooth season.
